Cache Valley Super Sprint 2009

Brett did such an amazing job at the triathlon this morning! He finished 30th overall out of 260 participants, and we couldn't be happier. It was such an interesting experience, and he learned so much about the process that will help him in future races.

The number that was assigned to him for the race was 60, which we thought was pretty cool because Brett's lucky number is 6. The first leg of the race was the 500 meter swim, and he finished it in 10:13. Then he went through the first transition and got ready for the bike leg. He finished the 12.5 mile bike ride in 41:03. After the second transition he did the 3.1 mile run, which was the final leg of the race, in 23:23. After you factor in his two transition times he finished with an overall time of 1:15:28. It was awesome!

I am not a whore!

This is a video of my Niece Stefanie and her friend Ashley. After they had a few too many drinks one night they decided that they were going to make a music video, and this is what they ended up with. It's pretty awesome.

It's the little things that mean the most

One of the things that has comforted me everyday since I lost my mom is being able to call her phone, and listen to her voice on her voicemail greeting. Every time I call, right before it picks up, I have this fear that her husband has shut it off, and it will be gone. I don't know how long he is planning on keeping it as an active number. For all I know, he could turn it off tomorrow.

Yesterday I found a company called CBW Productions that specializes in recording voicemails, and voicemail greetings. I paid ten dollars, and today I received an email with an mp3 recording of my mom's voicemail greeting. I couldn't be happier with their prompt service. All they need is the phone number of the greeting that you want to record, and they take car of the rest.

I am so glad that there is a company out there who thought to offer this service to people. It is brilliant! I don't think that something as easy as remembering how her voice sounds will be something that I might forget, but now I will never have to find out.

My own triathlete

Brett is participating in his first triathlon on Saturday. He will swim 500 meters, bike 12.5 miles, and then run 3.1 miles. He has been training really hard everyday, and his times are getting really great. I am so impressed with his determination and focus! I just know that he is going to do well.

I will take pictures and post all about it on Saturday. I can't wait to finally see it happen, and I'm sure he can't wait to do it!

Neil Patrick Harris

{this is not actually Doogie, but it looks just like him}

About a month ago I told you about some friends of ours that host a zoo of animals in their home. One of those animals is an African Grey Parrot named Doogie. I am not 100% sure, but I think he must've been named after the main character of the early nineties sitcom Doogie Howser, M.D.. There is really no other explanation for it.

Doogie has come to stay with us for a week while Del and Jana are on vacation. He has been so fun to have around. It has definitely been a big adjustment, but we are having a great time with him so far. I am hoping to be able to post a video sometime this week of the funny things he does and says. He talks a lot, and damn he is funny!

Bookshelf envy

I love bookshelves! Someday I will have a house full of them, I want one in every room. I love the unique styles that people come up with to make them more interesting. It has always been my dream to have a library full of books in my home, but for now I am thinking that two or three of these would look great at the end of our hall:

Aren't they cool?
