I just don't get it

Why is everyone so into Twitter? I hear about it everywhere I go, for hell's sake the NBA announcers even talk about it. So the other day {really like 2 weeks ago} I decided to sign up and see what all the hype was about. My conclusion: Twitter is stupid, account deleted. The only person who needs a Twitter account is Dooce. Because lets face it, she is the only blogger on earth that has 50 billion readers who really care what she is doing at any given moment in the day. She's funny, I'm not funny. Therefore, I don't need a Twitter account. Why would I want to have a Twitter account that I send updates to when no one is reading? I already have a blog that no one reads, so why waste more time?

I guess maybe I'm just not into the whole 'social networking' thing. No Myspace, no Facebook, no Twitter, no thank you. My blog is just here to keep the few people who do care updated from time to time, and serve as a journal for Brett and I. I have reconnected with some great friends through this blog that I lost touch with over the years, and I am grateful for that. I just think that keeping up with one site is time consuming enough. I don't know how some people can do them all.

Do you Twitter? What do you like about it?

I accept

A few weeks ago I did a post about quotes from my favorite movies. I had a lot of fun reading through the comments to see how people guessed. In the end only about half of them were figured out. I guess that this post showed me that I have a very different taste in movies than a lot of people.

My blog friend Psonya over at Pserendipity was pretty bothered by the fact that I didn't have a quote from her favorite movie, The Color Purple, listed in the post. Then when I told her that I had read the book, but never seen the movie, she left me this comment:

"You must watch the Color Purple -- really, you gotta. if you watch TCP, I'll expand my movie horizons and watch your favorite movie -- and review it on the blog. We'll do a movie trade, just tell me what to get."

So I have decided to accept her challenge! The movie that I am picking for her is {drumroll please}.....Green Street Hooligan's. Brett and I love this movie. It is seriously one of our favorite movies of all time. It's got a great plot, plus tons of intense action.

vs.

Make sure you check back next week for my review of The Color Purple!
Have you seen either of these movies? What did you think?

Spring has sprung

I am so happy that spring is finally here {knock on wood}, Brett and I love to be outside! We finally got to get the mountain bikes out on Monday and went up to Lambert Park for a ride. It was such a great day, so we decided that we would stop at Subway on our way up there and get a sandwich so that we could have a picnic. It was so great, and I can't wait to go again. Hopefully we will be able to ride a lot this year.

Requesting Recommendations

I am really close to finishing the book that I am currently reading, and cannot decide which one I want to pull off my shelf next. So I wanted to ask you:

What is your favorite book?

Why?

Can someone please explain this to me?

Because I am confused. It's April 16th, and we woke up to a foot of snow. APRIL 16th!! Not December. April. I don't understand it.

This is what Brett saw when he opened the door at six o'clock this morning to take the dog out:

WTF? Global warming? I think not.

I was obviously mistaken

I thought that today was April 15th, but it can't be. It's snowing outside. Silly me! Oh wait.....

Ebony and Ivory

Last night was the beginning of a fun new adventure for me. I have always wanted to learn how to play the piano. Always. When I was a little girl I always admired my friends that could play. The funny thing is though, I never thought to ask my mom for lessons. I don't know why.

A few years back Brett and his parents bought me a keyboard for my birthday, and I just never got around to actually finding anyone who could teach me. It has always been my intention, but I just kept putting it off. I frequently bring up the desire to start taking lessons in conversations with family and friends, so for my birthday this year Kristi decided to take it upon herself to finally find someone to teach me. I was so excited when she gave me the gift certificate she had made. I get to take 30 lessons, and my book was included. Last night was my first lesson. It was such a proud moment for me. I finally get to do something that I have always wanted, and I will soon get to cross off one of the items on my bucket list. I can't wait!

Envy

Chaz and Shay are in Moab this week. I am jealous. I don't know if you are aware of this or not, but I really want a Jeep. Bad. So having friends with a Jeep that take a week long vacation to Moab every year for the sole purpose of rock climbing, or Jeepin' as some people like to call it, really makes me sad that I can't join in the fun. Especially when they send us pictures like this:

Damn you.

Loved. This. Movie.

Seven Pounds

This movie is so great! If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend you go out and rent it! I really wanted to go see it when it was in theaters, but we just never got around to it. So we went straight down to the video store the day it came out on video and rented it. It's one of those films that you don't really know what is happening until the end, and when you find out you are shocked! You are drawn into the story from the very beginning! It's got a great cast, too! Will Smith, Rosario Dawson, and Woody Harrelson are just a few of the big name actors in this film. I can't say too much about it, because I would hate to give anything away. Just take my word for it, it's so so so so good!

We have also seen these three movies in the last week, and I would recommend them too! Slumdog Millionaire wasn't quite as good as I had expected, but I think it was just too hyped up. I liked it a lot, but it definitely wasn't motion picture of the year material in my opinion. Marley and Me was funny, but ended sad. I have to admit, after reading the book I didn't think that Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson could pull off playing the main characters in this story but in the end I was pleasantly surprised. Yes Man! had us laughing out loud through the whole show! It was so hilarious, and I can say one thing for sure.....Jim Carrey is back! So if you are bored and need a movie to watch....any of the four mentioned in this post would be winners!

P.S. if you are dying to know what movies all of the quotes in my last post were from, I have gone back and put the answers in for all of them. I was surprised that only half of them were guessed. Looks like I stumped you!

You think you know movies....prove it!

Lets play a game, shall we? I love games and I love movies, so naturally this game caught my eye. I picked 30 movies that I love {which wasn't hard at all}, and listed a quote from each movie below. Read through the quotes, and try to guess which movie's they are from. Leave a comment with your guess and include: the quote number, movie title, and your name. When someone guesses correctly I will strikeout the quote, put the name of the person who made the correct guess, and the name of the movie next to it. Sounds fun, right? Here's the tricky part: You aren't allowed to use any search engines, IMDB, wikipedia, etc. You just have to know them. You wouldn't cheat would you? Good!
