Bob that head!!

The Concert was AWESOME! They did a fantastic show this year, and unlike last years show they had an amazing encore. One thing I really like about Rascal Flatts is that they sound just as good live as they do on their CD's. That is talent if you ask me. I wish I could say the same for their opening act: Jessica Simpson. She is no good live. I take that back, the two pop songs that she sang sounded really good, her country music is no good live. When she is singing country you can barely hear the words over the bass in the arena, and she looks like she is trying to swallow her microphone, which just makes everything sound more muffled. But when she is belting out those pop songs and the microphone is ten inches away from her face, her voice is amazing, even if she does look like she is possessed by Satan. {that was for Shay :)}

Here are a few pictures of the night:

I have video too, but I am having a hard time getting it to load, so I will try again later.

Thanks for a fun night Shay!! You are the best.

Filling my bucket

I think I am going to make a list. Not just any list, but the list. You know what list I mean. The list of things that I want to do before I die. I have been thinking about it, and there are a lot of things to be added to the list, and think about how much better it will feel to accomplish the items on said list if you get to cross them off when you are done! Here are the first five that I have come up with {in no particular order}:

  • Drink a pint {or five} in an Irish Pub
  • Learn how to play the piano
  • Run a marathon {I know, I've already mentioned it}
  • Kiss Brett under the Eiffel Tower
  • Take a cross country road trip

What's on your list?

Taking Another Step

We finally received word on my mom's autopsy results, and we now know that her death was the result of an uncommon late complication related to the heart valve replacement surgery that she had almost three years ago.*

I don't know why, but I thought that I would feel a sense relief or comfort having an answer to this question that has been burning in my mind for the last eight weeks. It has consumed my thoughts, and I was sure that once we knew this answer everything would feel better. It doesn't. I am just mad now. Mad that there is nothing that I can do to bring her back. I am powerless, and that makes me angry.

*{In the report they called it Acute Myocardial Infarction due to Septic Embolism caused by Prosthetic Aortic Valvular Endocarditis.}

An Amazing Performance

Okay, Brett and I have ALWAYS been fans of Angelina Jolie {Hello! Laura Croft Tomb Raider is the greatest} so when I saw the preview for this movie, naturally I was excited to see it. We rented it last night, and I just have to say....WOW!!! She gave such an amazing performance, not to mention that the story line is so captivating! Our eyes were glued to the TV waiting to see what was going to happen the whole time. Just over an hour into it we had to pause it because Brett was leaving to go play Basketball, and neither of us wanted to hit that pause button. It was such an intensely interesting, sad, unpredictable, amazing story.

I'm not going to tell you about it for fear of ruining the plot, just go rent it!!

The Long Road Ahead

For some crazy reason I have the urge to run. Starting off slowly and only going short distances {since I have no lung capacity}, and gradually working my way up to longer distances and quicker paces. I am not sure why I have made this decision, but I have. On March 1st I am officially going to start training for a marathon. Yup, you heard me right. I said Marathon! {as in 26.2 miles of hell}

It is something that I have been wanting to do for a while now, but I never really thought I could actually accomplish it, you know? I mean how does someone who NEVER RUNS {and when I do it's not long at all} work their way up to running 26.2 miles? I don't really have an answer to that question, but I might as well try, right? You see, I put this on my 'things to do before I die' list, and just kind of forgot about it. I figured that I would get around to it eventually, I just wasn't sure when. After I lost my mom so suddenly I realized that you never know what is waiting for you around the corner, and tomorrow may never happen. I'm not saying that I think I'm going to die tomorrow, I'm just saying that I think I need to start living my life to the fullest. Just in case. I am sick of being such a lazy bum all the time.

Don't get me wrong, I love sleeping in on weekends and doing nothing but watch movies and playing games with Brett all day. But I think it's time that we change things up a bit. Maybe I'm crazy........I'll let you know in 59 weeks. {that's how long my training program will take}

If you want to see where I have been getting some of my inspiration from, go HERE {that's a link people} to read Taylee's {that's another} truly amazing story of how she ran 2 marathon's in 2 weeks! Wow!!!

Paraskavedekatriaphobia

I hate Friday the 13th, I always have and probably always will. Ever since I was young I have been afraid of Friday the 13th, and I can't tell you why. Nothing bad has ever happened to me on that day, so it makes no sense to me. I think it is just a fear that something bad will happen to me {or someone I love} on that day, I guess you could say I am superstitious......Well today happens to be that day {didn't you know?}.

I have fears of a lot of things. I'm a total wuss, and I openly admit that. Here is a list of the phobias that I have:
  • Acrophobia -the fear of heights
  • Arachnophobia - the fear of spiders
  • Necrophobia - the fear of death
  • Nyctophobia - the fear of the dark
  • Odontophobia - the fear of going to the dentist
  • Paraskavedekatriaphobia - the fear of friday the 13th
  • Tomophobia - the fear of surgery
  • Trypanophobia - the fear of needles/injections

Here is a list of the phobias that I have {mostly} overcome:

  • Aviophobia - the fear of flying
  • Glossophobia - the fear of public speaking
  • Hoplophobia - the fear of guns

I know, I know, my list of phobias is a mile long. Gimme a break! At least I am brave enough to admit what scares me, right?

Now it's your turn....What are you afraid of?

Move Over Disneyland

Beus Pond {behind Weber State University} is the happiest place on Earth as far as I am concerned. We were up in Ogden for a little while on Saturday so we decided to stop and feed the ducks. There wasn't nearly as many there this year as there has been in the past, but it was still so much fun. The ducks and Geese were coming up and taking the bread right out of our hands. We went through a whole loaf of bread in no time! It is such a pretty place, and I could stay forever!

25 Random Things About Me

I was {sort of} tagged by my blogland friend Allison! She tagged everyone who reads her blog to participate, and I thought it would be fun. So here it goes:

  1. I am afraid of the dark! {yes, I am aware that I am 23 years old}

  2. My all time favorite book is The Book Thief by Markus Zusak.

  3. I dream of living in Ireland someday. I also have a little {big} obsession with looking at the available real estate listings online. A girl can dream, right?

  4. If someone told me that I could have any car that I wanted right this minute, I would choose a 2008 Jeep Wrangler {Rubicon} over anything flashy and expensive.

  5. Brett is my best friend in this whole world! I would be lost without him, he has helped me through so much in my life.

  6. I ♥ Bajio's Pineapple Shrimp Tacos! I could eat them for dinner every night, and never get sick of them.

  7. I used to hate seafood of any kind {only because I was afraid to try it} until we went to visit my friend Emily who lives in LA. She had planned a night on the town for us in Hollywood and made a reservation for dinner at The Geisha House. She was raving about how delish the food was, but little did I know it was a sushi restaurant. I was so terrified to try it, but once I did I loved it! {the only thing I didn't love was the raw squid tentacles} Now I eat sushi any chance I can get.

  8. I have seen Don Williams in concert 4 times. He was my mom's all time favorite singer, and every time he came to town she got us tickets. The last time we saw him I got the tickets for her birthday as a surprise. {it was his farewell tour}

  9. I played the flute when I was in 6th and 7th grade. I was never good at it, But hey.....at least I tried.

  10. Tequila is my alcohol of choice. It doesn't have to be anything fancy {ie: patron}, just give me a bottle of Jose Cuervo and a shot glass.

  11. I ♥ 80's music! It is the best when you are driving, cleaning the house, or getting ready for the day. Two of my favorites are The Promise by When in Rome and Stay by Oingo Boingo.

  12. I think it's funny when my dog is having dreams. They must be good ones, because sometimes she looks like she is running, and she growls a lot in her sleep too. :)

  13. I really wish that I had an accent. I love listening to English, Irish, Scottish, and Australian people talk. Hopefully when I live in Ireland I will pick one up.

  14. I think that road trips are fantastic! It's so fun to pack up the car and just go. Singing, Talking, Dancing, Playing Games, Seeing new places, you name it!

  15. I have been with Brett through 6 surgeries {in 8 years}: right wrist, neck {spinal fusion at c6}, right hip reconstruction, right knee {ACL and Meniscus}, left knee {patellae tendon}, right ankle.

  16. I am in the process of writing 3 books.

  17. My favorite movie {since I was a little girl} is Beauty and the Beast.

  18. I dream almost every night, and most of them are so vivid that they seem real to me. They are so vivid that I have been known to talk in my sleep, or wake up crying from a nightmare. I even used to sleep walk when I was a kid.

  19. I ♥ Mountain Dew.

  20. If I had a never ending supply of bread I could sit and feed the ducks at Beus Pond forever. It's my favorite place in the whole world.

  21. I went to 8 different schools when I was growing up. {Central Elementary, Brigham City, Utah; Foothill Elementary, Brigham City, Utah; Willard Elementary, Willard, Utah; Adele C. Young Intermediate School, Brigham City, Utah; Box Elder Junior High, Brigham City, Utah; North Ogden Junior High, North Ogden, Utah; Weber High School, Pleasant view, Utah; Stacey's Beauty College, Ogden, Utah} I know what you are going to ask.....and yes, it did suck. Along with that came a lot of moving around too.

  22. As soon as Brett is done with College we want to move to Washington State.

  23. I am one of those people who really loves shopping, even if I can't afford to buy anything. I could spend hours upon hours just wandering around stores looking at everything they have.

  24. I really enjoy watching live sporting events, but I hate watching sports on the T.V.

  25. The hardest thing I have ever had to do is speak at my Mother's funeral. I have never given a public speech before that, and I was terrified.

Now I tag all of you!!
