Breakthrough!

As most of you already know, our dog is not good at acting like a dog at all. She is afraid of the water, If she had it her way she would never sleep without a pillow, she refuses to play fetch, won't play tug of war, and the worst part of all is....she is afraid of catching a ball. Most of the time when you throw a ball for her to catch she will just close her eyes and let it hit her. Brett has been working with her to try and get her to do more 'dog like' activities, and this weekend we finally got some improvement on the catching situation. So here are some action shots of the event.....we're so proud!

Game Night @ Mashley's

We went over to Matt and Ashley's house on Saturday night with Chaz and Shay to play games. We had a ton of fun!! We played a really great game of Guesstures (you act out words kind of like charades) and took some hilarious pictures!! I think we will be able to blackmail the four of them for many years to come! Enjoy =)

Miniature Horses

There is a family in our neighborhood that has miniature horses in their back yard, we discovered them in the spring while we were on a bike ride. We have taken Belle over to see them a few times, and we decided to go over there again last night....this time I brought the camera. She is so funny to watch with the horses, we are convinced that she thinks she is one of them. She gets her head in the fence and licks their noses, it's hilarious! Sometimes when she is licking them they will nip at her tongue, good thing she has fast reflexes. She hasn't actually been bitten yet, so let's hope she stays lucky. =)

We are so lucky to have such an adorable dog! Isn't she funny?

Park City

Last Wednesday was my mom's birthday so me, my sister, our mom, and our mom's best friend Elaine went to Park City for a girls weekend! It was really fun! Elaine had never been to Park City before, so we made sure to show her all of the great things there are to see. We spent the first part of the day at the Tanger Outlet Center where my mom and Elaine found a lot of great deals (they like to spend their money.....me and my sister didn't buy anything!). My sister and I thought this Moose was fun, so we had to stop and get a picture.

After we spent the morning at Tanger we went to check in at our hotel. We stayed at The Yarrow....funny name, I know, but it was a really pretty hotel! see:

Then it was off to Historic Main Street!! This is my favorite part of Park City! There are so many cute shops to see, and all of the old buildings make it feel like you are in another era. Not to mention the cute trolley that runs up and down main street every ten minutes!!

There are a lot of great statues all along Historic Main Street, so naturally we had to stop and pose with all of them!

Another cute, and fabulously dressed moose

Sister and I with an Elk

My mom and Elaine have been best friends for like a thousand years, and Elaine is so great!! No matter what happens they are always there for each other. I'm so glad that my mom has such a good friend to depend on. She's been around for so long, she's like a second mom to my sister and I. We love you Elaine!!

Thanks for such a great time ladies!! I had a ton of fun, we should definitely do things like this more often! Happy birthday mom!! =)

Better Late Than Never....

Today it has been two weeks since my grandma passed away. She has been sick for a very long time, and we knew that it was just a matter of time before she was gone. But one thing that I've learned is this, no matter how much you prepare yourself for something like this, you are never really ready. As hard as it is to know that I will never be able to see her or talk to her again, I am greatful for the fact that she is no longer suffering. She is finally at peace, and that makes my heart happy. I love you grandma!

Something Great

This is my second favorite series of books (Harry Potter still holds the top spot) It is such a great story! If you haven't read them yet, I highly recommend it! The whole series is great, and Stephenie Meyer has such a creative imagination! I'm not normally too into reading the sci-fi genre, but she does a great job of making you forget that you are even reading about Vampires. No fangs or sleeping in coffins in these books. So if that's why you haven't picked them up yet, you are really missing out on something great!! I promise you will be impressed! (unless you are my sister Kristi or my co-worker Keri, then I think you are crazy!!)

I just finished reading the fourth book last night, and it was fabulous! By far the best one in the series. I am not going to say anything about it, I would hate to spoil it for those of you who are still reading it, but when you get done reading I'd love to hear what you thought about it.

Now that I've read the whole series, I am anxiously awaiting the release of this on December 12, 2008:

Doesn't it look awesome?? I can't wait to see it! Who's coming with me? Brett has had his fair share of Stephenie Meyer event torture for one lifetime, so unless he wants to come, I wouldn't put him through that! =)

Ever Heard Of It?

I had never even heard of this movie until last week, and it came highly recommended by one of the employees at the video store when he saw that I had returned another movie starring Ryan Gosling ('Lars and The Real Girl', which is also fabulous). So I decided to give it a shot!

We loved it! It is such a great story, with a lot of twists that you wouldn't see coming, and Ryan Gosling does an amazing job with the character he plays. It is a totally different roll than we were used to seeing him in, it's definitely no romantic drama!

It premiered at The Sundance Film Festival in 2003, and was produced by Kevin Spacey. Well known cast includes:
  • Ryan Gosling
  • Kevin Spacey
  • Don Cheadle
  • Chris Klein
  • Jena Malone
  • Michelle Williams
  • Kerry Washington
  • Lena Olin
Here's the basic premise of the story:
Produced by Kevin Spacey, The United States of Leland is a psychological drama concerning the aftereffects of a brutal murder. Ryan Gosling plays Leland, an imprisoned teenager doing time for the stabbing murder of a disabled boy. Prison writing teacher Pearl Madison (Don Cheadle) gets caught up in the story with the intention of making a book out of it, especially when he finds out that Leland's father is the famous novelist Albert Fitzgerald (Kevin Spacey). Pearl's investigation uncovers some of the details and effects of the murder for everyone involved, including the victim's parents. Jena Malone plays Becky, the teenage junkie who is both Leland's ex-girlfriend and the victim's sister. The situation also complicates the relationship between Becky's older sister, Jennifer (Michelle Williams), and her sensitive boyfriend, Allen (Chris Klein).
Here's the trailer to give you a sneak peak =)
If you haven't seen this movie yet, I highly recommend it! (Keep in mind though, it is rated R) After you watch it, let me know what you think! What other great-but-unheard of movies are out there that you know of, and I don't?? Do tell!
